When You Can't Make It To The Gym

There are definitely days when I can't get to the Y to workout, so on those days I do this...

Turbo Jam

I LOVE it! My favorite workout that the Junkies do is Turbo Kickboxing, and these DVDs are from the same creator, Chalene Johnson. I have to admit that these workouts are not as intense as turbo kick, but you can still burn lots of calories. In fact, I did the 50 minute workout today and burned 565 cals. So if you are like me with crazy, busy schedules or a toddler who hates to go to the childcare center at the gym, then try Turbo Jam at home. It works!

  1. Fer, We need to do this together sometime! If our boys would let us!

Nicki, Thanks for putting this song on!!! It makes me want to go do round 38 right now!! Also, Brass Monkey brings me right back to high school lunch! :)

  2. i did this in my living room yesterday bc i just couldn't get to the Y with my 4 week old and 4 year old. it's a great way to get the turbo fix, without leaving the house. :)

although, i am sooo cravin that live class. if i can get the baby's eating schedule to cooperate better with class times, i'll be there SOON!! :)

  3. I looooove me some Turbo jam. Steven and I have been doing it together and then I usually cool down on the elliptical. It is a lot of fun!

  4. While I haven't found anything that I love as much as TurboKick/Jam - I had to get a little creative with my workouts due to time/budget constraints. I paid just ten buckaroos for a one month subscription to and it's turned out to be a huge blessing. They have hundreds of workouts that are available digitally, and LOTS are free. The subscription came with three downloads, so I found some longer workouts and downloaded them to keep forevers. :) (I used my laptop to burn them to DVD so now I have two kickboxing workouts and a zumba-like workout that I can use when I'm done with my subscription.)

All of that to say, an in-class TurboKick or Zumba is my fave, but sometimes we have to get clever when the clock and the pocketbook don't seem to agree with us on our fitness priorities. :)
